This is my first try at something SteamPunk, I wanted to make a gun but I didnt want to do the Nerf gun mod that everyone seems to be doing, I wanted to start from the ground up, and make something that works too. This gun works off one AA battery, two 1.5volt glow plugs, and flash paper, and it shoots two 40cal. balls hard enough to hurt a lot.

No disrespect, but I think this is more like PrisonBuilt than Steampunk. Very inventive ignition system tho. Where do you get flash paper....magic shop?
No disrespect at all, like I said this is my first try with Steampunk. I was trying to address the biggest problem I have with Steampunk, and that is. Everything about it is functional, phones, key boards, and so on. But all the guns Iv seen are just toys I didn't want to make just another Steampunk gun that was form without function, I wanted it to work! As for the flash paper I get it from a magic shop here in Denver I did pyrotechnics for a living for a few years so I can also order it straight from the wholesaler.

I have to disagree with you that everything about Steampunk is functional---I'd say only the very best pieces are functional. This is a discussion I've been meaning to start on this site. Like you, I am working on my first SP project now and I can only build things that fulfill some useful purpose (if only a marginal one). I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the rule (was it this group or another?) that you could submit only 3 projects per week. Who can churn out real art at that rate? Does gluing a gear on an earring post constitute SP? Not to me. It's taking me months to build a small contraption, between engineering, machining and hunting for parts. And my biggest learning curve is adding useless Victorian embellishments, but that's exactly what makes it look SP. That's my struggle, brother. Good luck to both of us.
