This is a Steampunk shoulder mounted flashlight/lantern made by Jonathan Alberico.
It is a hand cranked rechargeable flash light. The Battery in side is recharged every time you turn the crank, about 4 minutes of turning gets you about 1 minute of light. The light can be dimmed by turning a dimmer on the charger.

How exactly did you accomplish such a remarkable feat of engineering? I absolutely must know!

Well then, would anyone care for a spot of tea?

for the most part its the guts from a old wind up flash light. Once you have the charger crank you can attach what ever you'd like to power to it.

I really like this thing! It's functional, and designed in a whole new way. The construction and leatherwork look very professional.
I took apart a crank flashlight to see how easy it would be to adapt, and they do have a lot of potential. Mine has an array of LEDs which they say will stay lit for 30 mins after a couple of minutes cranking. You might want to look at those.

Thank you very much. I didnt want to use LEDs because you cant dim them very well and I wanted the light to only last for a few minutes, the idea of the lights going out in the dark somewhere was kinda the feel i was going for.
